Overview

Sushi Village Gordon is a charming sushi restaurant nestled on Pacific Highway in Gordon, NSW. This intimate eatery has carved out a reputation for delivering authentic Japanese flavors with thoughtful preparation and an approachable atmosphere. It serves as a favored spot both for dine-in and takeaway, making it an ideal choice for casual lunches, family dinners, and small gatherings.

The menu offers a well-balanced mix of traditional Japanese staples and inventive dishes that cater to a variety of tastes. Standouts include the Kara-Age Chicken, which showcases crispy, juicy bites with a perfectly seasoned batter, and the Zaru Soba Tempura Mix, a refreshing cold soba dish paired with crispy tempura prawns that’s perfect for warmer days. For rice bowl enthusiasts, the Oyako Donburi Combo and the Mix Tempura Donburi deliver satisfying, layered flavors that embrace homestyle comfort while maintaining elegant presentation.

Sushi hand rolls at Sushi Village carry a strong appeal, from the delicate Tempura Prawn Roll to the fresh and vibrant Cooked Tuna Rice Paper Roll wrapped in crisp lettuce and vegetables. These small yet fulfilling rolls suit solo diners or anyone looking for light, expertly crafted bites. The Poke Bowls highlight freshness with diced sashimi atop brown rice and a medley of greens and crunchy wonton crisps, blending texture and umami balance beautifully.

Japanese curry rice, notably the Chicken Katsu Curry, encapsulates the heart of hearty, savory fare with a well-spiced, comforting sauce over tender fried chicken. This dish demonstrates the restaurant’s attention to traditional standards while ensuring generous portion sizes that nicely complement their other offerings.

The physical space is cozy and modest, with several small tables suited for quick eats or intimate meals. Its size encourages a casual, unpretentious dining experience, perfect for locals and visitors craving authentic Japanese cuisine without the fuss of larger, more formal setups. The friendly staff enhance the experience, offering attentive service with a welcoming smile. Customers often praise the consistency and freshness of the food, which is thoughtfully prepared and visually appealing.

Reviews reveal Sushi Village Gordon as a hidden gem, especially appreciated by those who favor quality over flash. Regular patrons admire the authentic sushi craftsmanship, noting that the rolls and donburi dishes deliver genuine flavors that surpass some well-known competitors in the Sydney area. While some have expressed mild disappointment with certain sushi platters that offered less variety, most agree that the everyday menu items—from don to ramen—consistently meet or exceed expectations.

In summary, Sushi Village Gordon offers a genuine Japanese dining experience marked by fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, and fair value. It’s a destination for those seeking comforting Japanese meals in a relaxed setting, with a particular appeal to families, office workers, and anyone looking to enjoy a taste of Japan in the heart of Gordon.

I had a Christmas/End of year party last week at my friend's house and I took Sushi Village's sushi plater and it was a hit! Everyone loved it. This shop is one of our family's favourite take-away/ dine-in places in Gordon. Staff are always friendly and food is always fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

Sushi Village is a nice little gem in Gordon! The food is delicious and reasonably priced, and the restaurant is always clean. It is my go to place when I am craving for Japenese don or soba, my favourite are Cold Soba with Kakiage and Karaage Don. I have also ordered their sushi platters for house party, the portion is generous and the sushi is fresh.

Definitely hidden gem, food quality is amazingly over the price tag (considering the fact that it's Sydney). Authentic Japanese flavours, sushi is well made, you can tell by the look of them, it's not like those ones made by non-Japanese. Way better than the Bar Fresko upstairs. Will definitely come back and try more options, e.g. cold soba noodle, poke bowl and ramen variations. If the quality of rice can be better, I'd say this restaurant serves better Bento than Yayoi, ramen is not as good but still above average.

I recently got Ebiten maki-sushi (prawn tempura roll sushi) and Inari sushi (sweet tofu skin sushi) from the shop for take-away. They're really good and authentic sushi with proper vinegar + sugar rice. The prices are reasonable and provide simple, filling and good value lunch meal. On next visit, I ordered the mixed ten or tempura don where you get 2 pieces of prawn tempura and a big veggie kakiage tempura on top of warm rice and side Japanese salad (sliced carrot, cabbage and green leafs). Very good value and balanced, healthy lunch for your money. In next visit, I tried the dengaku tofu, spicy cold maze-udon and the kara-age kare-don (curry rice with fried chicken). They're quite good value meal for your money. The place is small, but there are a few small tables for eating on site. Customer services are good where you can pay with all type of credit cards with surcharge of 1%. They also provide cool tap water for drink, if you ask.

I ordered a sushi platter ( Deluxe ) for a special occasion and we’re a bit disappointed about its quality. We are quite happy with their normal meal like Donburi, Ramen & bento box sushi set etc… We love their Donburi, Karaage & salmon carpaccio etc…. They are fantastic :-)) That’s why I had a little expectation with the sushi platter this time. Most of all sushi were nicely made, looked beautiful but salmon sushi ( nigiri ) were all really thin in the Deluxe platter. They were the main sushi for the platter but no any other varieties of fish in it. It would have been better if there were some other fish like Tuna or squid rather than all fresh salmon. Their bento-box sushi set ( $14.90 ) has better choices of fish & varieties like aburi ( teriyaki ) in a small tray. I wouldn’t recommend this platter as it’s not Deluxe, pretty boring to me :-( . Better to pick several individual packs for more varieties of fish & flavours!!

If you're looking for delicious authentic Japanese food, look no further. Despite its name, it sells more than sushi. There are some very unique dishes which you cannot get at other Japanese restaurants - such as spicy mazeudon (which by the way, was very delicious and perfect for a hot summer day. ) The service was also lovely and I left the place with a smile. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu items.
